February 14, 2013: Delawareans Facing Impacts of Climate Change Head to the Largest Climate Solutions Rally Ever in Washington, DC on February 17
Crippling drought; Devastating wildfire; Superstorm Sandy; Climate change has come home—and Delaware residents get it. On Sunday, February 17, hundreds of Delawareans will travel to Washington, DC for the Forward on Climate Rally – the largest climate solutions rally in U.S. history. The goal is to get President Obama to take strong action on climate change starting by rejecting the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline.
February 7, 2013: Delaware Sierra Club applauds new improvements to the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative
Sierra Club applauds the work of dozens of local and regional organizations to secure a decision to strengthen and improve the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), a multi-state agreement to reduce harmful carbon pollution in nine Northeastern states.
August 6, 2012: Sierra Club requests that DNREC establish chronic violator regulations and designate the Delaware City Refinery as a chronic violator
The Delaware Chapter of the Sierra Club is very concerned about the frequency of violations of environmental permits and pollution releases at the Delaware City Refinery. Title 7 Delaware Code § 7904 provides the definitional requirements of chronic violator status for environmental permit-holders, yet DNREC has yet to establish such regulations. On July 30th we asked DNREC Secretary O’Mara to prioritize the establishment of regulations for the designation of chronic violator status, and designate the Delaware City Refinery as a chronic violator. We have not yet received a response to this request.

There is no greater time of need for wetlands protections in Delaware, as Delaware is losing wetlands at a catastrophic rate that places the future one of Delaware’s most important natural resources in jeopardy.
