The tailgating and petition signature gathering will start at 5:30pm and the Rezoning hearing inside the Garnet Valley Middle School Auditorium will begin at 7pm. Hands Across the Sand Wilmington, May 18th

Delaware, along with every other East coast state participated in the 4th Annual Hands Across the Sand on Saturday, May 18th.  We joined hands in solidarity with thousands of others in 18 states and 9 countries to say YES to clean energy and NO to more dirty fossil fuels and offshore drilling! Our Delaware-specific cause was offshore seismic testing.  The US Department of the Interior is currently deciding if seismic airgun testing should be allowed to search for oil and gas in the Atlantic Ocean from Delaware down to Florida.

MTR Week in Washington

Stephanie-Herron's picture Submitted by Stephanie-Herron on Fri, 2013-05-10 16:06

From May 4th-8th I attended the 8th Annual Mountaintop Removal Week in Washington.  The event is put on by the Aliiance for Appalachia, a diverse coalition of groups fighting to end the absolutely devastating practice of MountainTop Removal coal mining, hereafter refferred to as MTR.  The Sierra Club is a member of the Alliance and I want to give an especially HUGE shout out to Appalachian Voices and their staff for dedicating a ton of time and resources to making the week a big success and also to thank the several Sierra Club Beyond Coal staff and supporters who helped out!

Stephanie Attends Mountaintop Removal Week in Washington

From May 4th-8th I attended the 8th Annual Mountaintop Removal Week in Washington. The event is put on by the Alliance for Appalachia, a diverse coalition of groups fighting to end the absolutely devastating practice of MountainTop Removal coal mining. This is my "photo-blog" of the experience, which finished with a AWESOME day of action at the EPA demanding a rule on conductivity in water!!
