In a letter dated August 30, 2012, EPA Region III Administrator Shawn Garvin expressed his concern about the loss of Delaware's wetland resources. He assured us that the EPA is working in collaboration with DNREC, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S.

The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) is a key part of most Northeast and Mid-Atlantic States’ strategy to reduce pollution from fossil fuels and shift to clean energy.
The Delaware Chapter of the Sierra Club asks Governor Markell to preserve the integrity and intent of the Delaware Coastal Zone Act throughout his activities as Governor, and asks him to prioritize environmental conservation and restrictions on industrial development within the Coastal Zone.
On May 31, 2012 the Delaware Chapter asked Governor Markell to strengthen management protections for American shad and river herrings. Delaware’s rivers and estuaries once supported abundant river herring and shad, providing opportunities for recreational fishing and an abundant food source for wildlife. Delaware recently implemented a moratorium on commercial and recreational fishing for river herring and a similar moratorium on American shad may be imminent. But more work needs to be done in federal waters to recover these depleted fish.
An article in today's News Journal entitled "Refineries Search for New Life" (Aaron Nathans, July 1, 2012) reports that "Gov. Jack Markell pledged $45 million in state financial assistance, leading to $465 million in renovations to the plant. About 500 jobs were restored."
