We are writing to request a public hearing for the Delaware City Refining Company’s Olefins Restart Application. This project would restart the Olefins Unit, which has been out of service since May 2001, to produce nonene from polymerized gasoline components from the refinery’s Catalytic Polymerization Unit. This project would introduce new risks to the surrounding communities and environment, making a public hearing necessary.

The Delaware Chapter of the Sierra Club has concerns about the proposed changes to the Delaware Regulations Governing Design, Installation and Operation of On-Site Wastewater Treatment and Disposal Systems, as they pertain to different standards that are set for the Chesapeake Bay tidal areas than Delaware’s other watersheds.
