The Delaware Chapter of the Sierra Club is writing in strong support of EPA action to collect information on CAFOs (confined animal feeding operations). It is imperative that basic information be collected from all CAFOs nationwide to ensure that the goals of the Clean Water Act are being met.
On June 30, 2011 Governor Markell signed into Law SA 1 to SB 70, which prohibits the chemical bisphenol-A in certain children's products, including bottles, cups, and other food and beverage containers. Bisphenol-A, commonly known as BPA, is a chemical used to harden plastic that is found in many food storage containers. BPA is a known hormone disruptor, and small amounts that leach from containers into foods and liquids are sufficient to cause health problems.
