"We support the right to a clean and healthful environment for all people"
Our latest effort is the Save Energy to Save the World Campaign to promote energy efficiency in Delaware. If we're going to turn this climate crisis around and save the world we're going to have to offset a whole lot of fossil fuels in a pretty short time. Using/wasting less energy is the easiest way to do that. That's the idea behind this campaign to promote energy saving policies in Delaware.
Freezing temperatures did not stop over two dozen climate justice advocates from demonstrating outside the Federal Building on King Street in Wilmington against the tar sands Keystone XL Pipeline.
Unlike Senator Carper, Senator Coons and Congressman Carney both stood up to Big Oil and voted no on the last-minute effort to force President Obama's hand on Keystone XL pipeline. The pipeline, if built, would transport 830,000 barrelsday of the dirtiest fuel on earth from the tar sands in Canada to Gulf Coast refineries to be refined and exported. Because it crosses an international border, the pipeline requires a presidential permit. The State Department is undergoing a review process to deermine whether the project is in the national interest (which of course, we know it isn't). Thi
Last month Senator Mary Landrieu made a last ditch effort to save her bill to force through the Keystone XL pipeline without the required Presidential permit (the same bill we successfully held off back in May). Senator Landrieu is one of Big Oil's favorite bought Senators, but unfortunately this time around DE's own Senator Carper decided to side with the tar sands industry and support the bill.
