2015 Energy & Climate Lobby Day, March 25th in Dover
Help us share the message with our elected officials that we need them to act on energy efficiency and climate change in Delaware!
Climate & Energy Lobby Day
Wednesday, March 25, 2014 Lobby Day at 9:30am; House Energy Committee at 3pm
Legislative Hall, Dover (map)
Pre-registration for full Lobby Day is required by March 22nd (no deadline for hearing).
Sign in from 9:15-9:30am, followed by a lobby workshop, lunch and meetings with legislators.
At 3pm there will be an important hearing in the House Energy Committee with a presentation from the Energy Efficiency Advisory Council (EEAC). This will be an exciting committee meeting to attend! It will help everyone get a better sense of how the legislative committee structure works and what the EEAC is doing/planning to help make Delaware a leader in energy efficiency.
No previous lobbying experience required, we'll give you a detailed training on how to effectively lobby for environmental causes--there's no need to be nervous, remember these legislators work for you! You also don't need to be an expert on energy efficiency or climate change to help out, we'll help fill in the details on policy. We need help sharing stories about why getting off our dependence on fossil fuels by not wasting energy is important, and making legislators see that reducing the impacts of climate change & sea level rise are critical to the prosperity of our families and our state as a whole. After the lobby training, we'll will give a briefing on what our message is for the day and training on how to stay on message.
So we can pair up our lobbyist for the day depending on what district they live in and their level of lobbying experience (and so we know how much lunch to order) pre-registration for Lobby Day is required by Sunday, March 22nd. You can register for Lobby Day here. *Please note that everyone who registers for Lobby Day will be assigned legislator meetings in the late morning/early afternoon (depending on what district you live in and what legislators are available to meet with us) and will be expected to attend those meetings; this is a crucial part of Lobby Day. We can help point you in the right direction of offices, of course, and will do our best to pair every group up with at least one person who has lobbied before.
Volunteers are needed to help make lobby day a success! From helping with registration on the morning of to making appointments with legislators offices in advance, we need a variety of skill sets and time commitments so there is sure to be something that's right for you! Email Stephanie or call 302-468-4550 to get involved.
