When: Sunday, April 28th, 1pm-3pm
Where: Newark Natural Foods Co-op, 280 E. Main St. Newark, DE 19711.
Please join Delaware Sierra Club, The Young Peacemakers and the Down to Earth Food Co-op for a Vermicomposting workshop where you'll actually leave with your very own bin of red wiggler worms provided by Welakamike red wiggler worm farm in Dover!
Vermicomposting is a method of indoor composting that uses worms to break down food scraps. Vermicomposting is quicker and more space-efficient than backyard composting. Come learn about the benefits of vermicomposting, strategies for composting in your home or apartment and have all your questions answered!
We are thrilled to be hosting Sindhu Siva, a recent graduate of University of Maryland who studied agriculture. Sindhu has been involved with farming projects of different scales including urban farming and CSA's. She is also the "mother" to her very own worms.
The event is open to the public and we are asking for a donation of $15 for a bin, bedding and your very own worms! In the interest of recycling, If you have a bin that is around 4 gallons, has a lid and is longer and more shallow than a square please let us know and bring that with you. The ideal bin is around (l) 14.5" x (w) 9.5" x (h) 6.5".
*Enter "the Meadow" at the Newark Natural Foods by walking around the outside down the right side of the building.
