UD Alumni Day Power Plant Protest
Sierra Club members joined Newark Residents Against the Power Plant, current UD students & alumni, and residents on Saturday, to raise awareness about the proposed power plant on campus at UD's Annual Alumni Day, Saturday, June 7th 9:30am-2pm. Scroll down or check us out on facebook for photos!
When: Saturday, June 7th 9:30am-2pm
Where: UD Campus
On Alumni Weekend, UD Alum from many different class years and backgrounds come back to visit Newark and their Alma Mater. They are given tours of the campus, told about the university's green campus initiatives and great athletic programs (like the football stadium which would be right downwind of the power plant). Many of these folks now live in other states and are too busy with their jobs and families to really follow what UD is doing other than the occasional mailers and donations requests they get from the university.
We want alumni to know about the power plant too. These Alum, some who donate big money to the university, have a right to know about UD's plans for STAR Campus. Often University Alumni opinions are one of the most important things to a college, since they are big target for donations, We hope that the UD working group established to study this proposal will agree with the UD Faulty, Staff, Students & Neighbors that a polluting power plant is not a good fit for campus when they make their reccomendations to the UD Administration later this month.
riding in style on the way to the anti-power plant action!
Woof! No Smokestacks!
