Delaware Sierra Club "intervenes" in Delmarva IRP
The Delaware Chapter of the Sierra Club has filed to officially "intervene" in the Delmarva Integrated Resource Plan (IRP). This plan reviews how Delmarva will meet electricity needs and justify costs, and includes information on the environmental and health impact of our energy supply.
The first workshop addressed issues that interveners would like to review in detail in the IRP over the next two months. These future workshops will address projected compliance with the Renewable Portfolio Standard, the impact of natural gas in the renewable portfolio standard, how the price of natural gas will be affected if fracking is required to comply with environmental protection laws, and the externality costs of fossil fuels on health and the environment.
Future workshops will be on May 1, May 15 and May 29. Following these workshops, the Chapter will draft formal comments which will be included in the docket.
