2014 Delaware Environmental Summit, March 22nd in Dover
Join us for the sixth annual gathering of Delaware’s environmentalists! Meet like-minded allies, discuss emerging issues and develop strategies to advance environmental protection in the first state.
The plenary session will include several short presentations about emerging issues in the first state.
There will be 4 more participatory & action-oriented breakout sessions after lunch:
What's with our water?: NPDEs and the failure to enforce the Clean Water Act, disappearing wetlands, Delaware's polluted waterways and plans to clean them up
Extreme Energy sources: Fracking and tarsands, climate change and externalities, pipelines and the new fossil fuel power plants of Delaware
Environmental Justice, Environmental Racism and Community Activism
Delaware's Coastal Zone Act: Delaware City Refinery advocacy, the need to implement indicators, land use and sea level rise
Due to the increased cost of this year's Summit, participants will be asked to pay $5 each to help cover the cost of the venue, supplies and lunch. In order to avoid the hassle of of having to remember to bring $5 cash, we've included the option to pay online via Eventbrite (a secure event site). If you really prefer not to pay online you may bring $5 cash when you sign in on the morning of the Summit. We want anyone is passionate about protecting the environment in Delaware to have the opportunity to attend, so some need-based scholarships may be provided upon request by contacting Stephanie.
